I get anxiety attacks in certain types of situations. If I am driving someplace I have never been before, I get anxious about getting lost, my car breaking down, etc. My symptom is mental distress, mainly, and sometimes "shakes". It usually lasts until I am close to my objective.

I was getting panic attacks every time I would drive. It was horrible, I could feel it coming on, losing my breath tight chest, dizzy, blurred vision.I would have to pull over, they would last at least 30 minutes, finally I had to talk myself out of them, just go to another place in your head, and breath. Even thinking about it makes me start to lose my breath.

Yes, I have had them. I haven't had the severe attacks, though. I take medication for certain things.
It is normal to feel like you are having a heart attack during an extreme anxiety attack. Panic attacks are much the same thing.
My symptoms are:rapid heart rate, shaking or jitteriness, irritability, disorientation, and sometimes crying.
The trick is finding out whether or not your anxiety is a symptom or the cause. For me, it was ADD, and anxiety was only a symptom of that disorder. For you, it may be something different.
Sometimes it's a long haul for a diagnosis, but don't give up. Keep going to your doctors or find one who works with you on this problem. Try the medications they suggest. Who knows? One may work and that will minimize your attacks.
Good luck with this. Don't give up.

there are different kinds of anxiety attacks, they can be caused by being overwhellemed or nervous about something. causing increase in heart pressure and unable to think clearly. there is a kind where if you drink to much caffine or other energy boosting products, also if exercising and your heart rate gets to high, these will cause discomfort or small pains in your chest.

I am a Vn. Vet. I have panic attacks, have had them 3 or more days. Starts in my stomach then feels like i'm going to explode, very shaky,
Heart papitations. My shrink prescribed vallium
( Disapam ) 5mg in morning 10mg at night.
See a mental health doctor., be careful with drugs you may get an opposite effect for what they are prescribed for. Zoloff drives me up the wall, Amtripiline makes me grouchy, Devicote makes me say things I would not normally say.
Be careful driving and taking meds, at least untill you get them in your system,2 or 3 weeks.
Good luck and god bless. Another thing is a good hobby, painting, singing, etc.

Yes. Go to www.zoloft.com and they will have a list of symptoms so you can see if that is what you are experiencing. It made me feel better to look at it to see that what I was experiencing was normal. You feel like you are going crazy when you are having one. Mine got so bad that I couldn't even leave the house. If yours are bad, go see a doctor and get on medication. You don't have to live with it. It is a chemical imbalance that they can fix. Just have patience. You are not crazy and it can be fixed. Your body gets into bad habits that are hard to break but once you get your body back on track it will be easier to break the cycle. If you are an anxious person, you are born anxious. You will be anxious for the rest of your life....but learning to control it is something that you can do so you don't have to live with the symptoms. Trust me. Go see a doctor. You'll be glad you did.
