Hello..Visit your doctor again..If you suffer in general fron Panic attacks or Generalized Anxiety disorder it is supposed that you have undergone some adequate cure. If that happened all of a sudden it is more probable to be a post-traumetic stress, associated with panic and anxiety..For that condition the best temporarily used medications are Xanax and Valium(Xanax is better). You should visit a good shrink to prescribe you the proper cure that have to include a SSRI antidepressant(Zoloft works fine) and He/She could add you an anxiolitic drug, like Xanax. Propranolol in general is not well tolerated by the patient and I would not prescribe it..Anyway,your feeling of pressure on your chest can be a side effect of the Propranolol intake..If you feel still unsure contact me..Good luck!!

Yes, go back to the doctor. Having all those panic attacks releases stress hormones that can affect the output of your heart. I’m not saying that you are having a heart attack, but, it could lead to one. Also, you might be experiencing a side effect of the drug.

It may be the side effect of the medication. I would call the doctor as soon as possible.

I’d go back to your doctor just to be sure.
I have panic attacks for a while too. I took a drug called Abilify and they gradually lessened. Now I don’t get them at all.
But after they happened, I’d feel really weird for a day or two afterwards. I felt like I wasn’t fully in my body/reality.
What triggered your attacks?

No it’s not chances are you are experiencing more than just panic anxiety, or worse you may have a slight heart problem, have it checked my friend, and please do it immediately.

Propanolol is not typically prescribed for panic attacks. That is elementary. Please see a psychiatrist, not just any doctor. Hurry for two reasons. First, you need to eliminate the possibility of any other condition. Second, untreated anxiety perpetuates itself.

Hi,, XX
I know what you are going thru dear,, its awful….. I have to admit that the only relief is medication… because it feels like you are having a heart attack. and thats no fun…..
Go see a regular doctor and tell him whats going on.. he can prescribe you something … I take prozac and buspar myself.. and I promise you it really does work….. Now, it doesnt make it go away… but it helps you deal with it…..OK…..
Good Luck,,
Let me know if you need some moral support……

I suggest that when you feel an attack starting, or you are just feeling anxious, eat a small snack. I suggest 1-2 oz of turkey, a cracker or a cookie, or if you are concerned about your weight – a low glycemic carbohydrate (green leafy vegetable) and some nuts – almonds or peanuts are best. This is a recipe for some slow burning energy that will help level your blood sugar.
If your panicking is due to your brain seeking blood sugar, because it is getting low, this recipe will help that.
If this works for you, you may want to check out http://www.hufa.org for more info on low blood sugar, its causes and things you can do about it.

I would definitely go back and see your doctor, it could be a side effect from the medication, or you may be having a reaction.
In the meantime, I would try and take long deep breaths- breathe in and count slowly from 10 to 1, if you are still feeling poorly, repeat it up to 3 times.
There are many different medications to treat anxiety attacks, some work over a long period of time and some work sublingually(under the tongue) for rapid treatment. Perhaps you and doctor can discuss which one might be best for you.
Good Luck to you, I wish you the best.

The medication is worse than the attack. I suffered from panic attacks for about nine years. I learned to fully embrace them and not allow them to controll me. I had to sit down and keep assuring myself that everything is okay.
The worst part about those attacks are the physiological part. It feels as if though you are losing your mind, for your emotions are all over the place.
Again, I did not take any meds. Not everything is about medication. Doctors love nothing more than prescribing strong medication for whatever reason. Ironically, the side effects are worse than any attack. You can survive an attack; you have to train yourself as to what to do.

Chest pain is normal in Panic attacks. You must eat an only natural diet- no stimulants like coffee or MSG, salt. Acupuncture is a good treatment for panic attacks and so is biofeedback. You probably have an energetic physiological imbalance that won’t show up on western medical tests although a blood test for anxiety is on the way.
Try this video for relaxation and hometraining biofeedback and wild divine home biofeedback system too.

i had trouble with betas blockers my Dr prescribed for high blood pressure ,but after 3days i felt like my legs were made of lead, my chest felt tight and then i started to slur my words ,i phoned my GP and she told me to stop them straight away. she put me on normal blood pressure tablets and i got back to normal.it was a very scary time so i think you should see your GP as soon as possible . good luck .

go to the emergency room immediately. your doctor may wrongly assume this condition is related to the panic attack or medication. the hospital will call in a cardiologist and not release you until they are certain this condition is not heart related. frankly, you sound like me before my coronary.

Propanolol consticts the bronchi and may exacerbare conditions such a asthma. Do you wheeze any? This is an old drug and hardly used any more because of side effects.

Personally, I think that if it is bothering you that much you see your doc. again and if you do don’t just except a "there’s nothing wrong" answer tell them all the symptoms and if deep down in your gut you are uncomfortable with the doc’s answer then get a second opinion. Here are some of my thoughts on what might, key word might be wrong with you first it could be that you have pre-existing Asama condition that was triggered by the panic attacks, then it might just be that you were experiencing effects of the panic attacks before they happened and are still felling them and there could also be something else wrong so make sure that the doc. knows all the facts about your condition. Good Luck sweetheart feel better.

I agree with Richard S……once you know what they are you just close your eyes and totally concentrate on relaxing your entire body. Once you know what they are…….you know that is all it is. You will get thru it, just let it pass and don’t let it carry you away. I was on different medications and I learned to just relax and let it pass. No more medications and no more attacks….if you know what your stress is and are able to eliminate it, do so. It is not worth your health stressing over certain things…..if you can change it ..do….if you can’t…..let it go.

Panic attacks are hard on your body, but they will not kill you.
The tightness you feel may be a side effect of your panic or of the medicine you are taking.
You are right that anxiety disorder feeds itself and can become an ongoing thing.
The good news is that there are many things you can do to reduce or eliminate the attacks. One BIG help is to stop taking all caffeine. Here are some of the things that contain caffeine: soft drinks like Coke or Pepsi, tea, chocolates, coffee and some pain medicines. Eliminate all these from your diet. You may experience a headache for awhile after quitting caffeine, but it will go away and is well worth not having the panic attacks.
You can buy decaff coffee and decaff teas and Coke.If stopping these doesn’t help, by all means see a psychologist. He can work with you and may give you a different medicine than what the doctor gave you. There are ways to learn to reduce and eliminate panic attacks by the right foods and techniques of behavior.
Be sure to talk to to someone soon so that you can eliminate the medicine as
the thing that iscausing the chest tightness.
Good luck to you!
